A company was founded
In December 1982, Finnveden Invest AB was founded on initiative of Finnveden Sparbank and some fifteen local family companies. The company was the first organization in Sweden that concentrated on local businesses. Its aim was to further develop and safeguard the trade and industry in the small scale business district Finnveden, a geographical area known for its amazing enterprising spirit.
The first acquisitions
In December 1982, Finnveden Invest acquired the first shares in some local companies followed by some further acquisitions during the coming years. Among the line of business you could find everything from door manufacturing and sales of electrical Christmas candlesticks to blow formed plastic products. The only thing common for the companies were the local ties to Finnveden and that they often were characterized by the "Gnosjö-spirit". The companies also had development potentialities.
Finnveden AB
In May 1995, Finnveden Invest changed name to Finnveden AB. During the later part of the 1990s, the strategic direction was set. Finnveden AB was to become a global supplier to the international automotive industry. During the years to come, Finnveden went through a major restructuring. The Group grew rapidly and made several acquisitions that today stand for 75 percent of the company. 400 million SEK was invested in new efficient production equipment and the head office was moved to Gothenburg. This resulted in a new and sharpened Finnveden Group that reached new customers in Europe, North America and Asia.
New owners
In November 2004, a public cash offer was made to the shareholders in Finnveden AB by Nordic Capital Fund V. In February 2005 the offer was finalized and Finnveden was delisted from the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Later this year, the business area that traded fasteners to the general industry - Bufab, was divested and Finnveden became 100% focused on the international automotive industry.
Finnveden today
Finnveden continues to establish a presence in new geographical markets and offers customers local, business area-specific skills and expertise. The Group is a preferred partner to the automotive industry in the entire flow, from concept and product development to production and delivery.
